as costello continues to look long, the grooves continue to flow. lng3 sees the reissue of the deep house classic pleite which originally appeared on trapez in 2003. recorded in dublin in 2002, this version has been mastered at dubplates and mastering, berlin in 2009. the results are stunning and serve as a welcome reminder of costelloÆs deep roots. pleite (costello dub) in particular could teach some of todayÆs hyperactive producers a thing or two about setting up a solid groove and letting it sit. the timing of this reissue could not be more perfect with regard to the current musical zeitgeist. the title, a german colloquialism for broke or indeed bankrupt which was an in-joke at the time of the original release, takes on a new significance in the context of global economic recession.

whats up people. in case you hadnt heard, the cherry is back inside the building. after a 2-year hiatus chicago-fave dj heather brings her much sought after imprint back to life via vancouver-based nordic trax. first up, we have the french born london-based producer giom, aka guillaume jambel, who has knock-out releases & remixes for the likes of motion music, eight tracks, amenti, kolour, om, agave, tango & more. as the title suggests the tracks are a few years old and pre-date his other original material. you may have already received these from g or heather, but let me assure you these are freshly mastered by chris alexander and ready to blow up your speakers.

only a very few lucky people can call skatebards wonderful debut lp their own. >skateboarding was a crime in 1989< got released on telles electronic offshoot tellektro, home of great norwegian artists like annie or rÖyksopp. the key track on that album was >sgnelkab< which got played and loved to death by djs like sven väth, michael mayer and pascal feos. it instantly became a classic and always remained a secret weapon. the few copies available on discogs cost € 50 and more.... now >sgnelkab< is finally available on a full vinyl side and remastered to great effect! along comes a brand new remix by norwegian techno godfather mental overdrive (r&s). he turned the track into an insanely hot disco rave remix that already got great feedback from the usual suspects. the artwork was accomplished by another scandinavian legend: sähkös very own tommi grönlund!

massive summerhit from nick curly played by: sven väth, dubfire, matthias tanzmann, karotte, audiofly, nick fanciulli ... currently, the releases and remixes of young mannheim-born nick curly are integral parts of the scene. with his imprints cécille and 8bit records he discovered both sis and johnny d., and thus shaped the electronic music scene decisively. nick is also well-known on an international level and tours the world under the motto >series<, which is at the same time the collective name for his vinyls. sven väth is a fan of the high-flyer and invites him not only to make an ep on cocoon recordings but also for a performance at the cocoon night at super club amnesia in ibiza. the two exclusive tracks on pujante / new town stranger are showing once again nicks diversity and his intuition for groove and soul. the a side >pujante< is a strongly forward-banging piece of techno that extends over the dancefloor like a shock wave. totally different: the b side >new town stranger<. for more than 12 minutes, the listener is enchanted by this masterpiece that attracts him with its perfect groove and a fascinating voice, just like a story from another time

big with: richie hawtin, dubfire, dj hell, mandy, dj t, james what, ralph lawson... well what can we say, two tracks that could not be more different from well know mainz/ germany based artist butch aka bülent gürler. the a side >destruction< is a track that so perfectly fits into the scene of german minimal house, we think it will be eaten up immediately by the dj scene. the flipside track >muskatnuss< is more challenging and made for the advanced djs. this track is weird, funky, housey and more on the side of the new school of house we get nowadays from cecille and similar labels. the track makes use of samples from butchs most sought after sample libaries that include fantastic cartoon sounds he has cut up and arranged rhythmically. a stunning performance!

this is an absolute balearic beauty. mendes & alþada, from portugal, release their first 12inch and it doesnt dissapoint. a head nodding 80bpm chugger with a beautiful guitar loop sat on a gritty analog line makes you want to put your hands up and wave them from side to side. label favourites, the idjut boys get pete z in and add percussion and more girth to make it another classic remix. absolutely essential.

clone v2.0! clone back in its new form.. a series of specialized series dedicated to different functionalities, emotions and styles of electronic music. the clone loft series will be releasing more traditional house and ny influenced disco for the smaller and more intimate club settings. first of reggie dokes with probably his best release so far! a-side is a dirty but massive house track that goes down very well in any house set! at first notice this might be the main track... which most likely it is for more peak-time use... but actually our favorite is the fierce i wear the mask track on the flipside. this track has a nice jumpy beat, very light... but such a balanced rhythm that it will grab one for sure. on top it has layers of strings and a bouncy bassline and very staccato keys... and everything is so well balanced, so sensitive that it really gives us goosebumps all over! it reminds even to some derrick may tracks where he managed to make his songs emotional and fragile with the same kind of timbre and hidden energy (but then less 909 orientated and such...) it has that force, that gentle force of magic that frees that inner energy, that inner power that makes you wanna dance. what a stunning track and what a strong release by mr dokes. essential!

some would say the chicken lips label is long overdue, but lipservice is worth the wait as it promises the very best from augmented cl clan of dean meredith, andy meecham, stevie kotey and johnny spencer - a collective who have remixed just about everyone, spawned a thousand copycats and destroyed a few floors in the process. the inaugural lipservice release sees the chaps unleash zeefungk, one of their most popular and rare guises. the a-side is occupied by >robot eyes< - a splendid slice of electro-disco-funk which is vintage chicken lips. acid bass and loose drums combine with keys which progress wonderfully to create a really special piece of dancefloor tomfoolery. next up is >feast of freeks< (stevie koteys tape edit), a new edit of a track featured on the bands now-classic >extended play< album but never released as a 12inch. the bearfunk main man and all round gent delivers a tweaky, driving uptempo disco monster which climaxes in some trademark kotey madness. >robot lips< closes the packages and displays more of the guys unreal keyboard work as the groove stays steady but the hands go hyper. riddled with vintage synth work, >robot lips< is heads down business and no mistake.

los angeles is a hot bed of underground techno and killer all night parties. at the center of all of this is the duo of acid circus (droid behavior), who control much of the movements sonically and at the events.the brothers >v< inspire this tora release with heavy influence from venetian snares (ie. see title).the main cut throbs with a hypnotic vocal chant and incredible bass. both a dj tool and dance magnet. >dark wave< continues this approach this time with chilling reverb attacks and more bass. label head dietrich schoenemann strips it back to almost a constant loop and still manages to sneak more bass in.

detroit chords and big analogue synths make this a peak time techno floor filler, with massive dj support from the likes of laurent garnier. this is leeds based duncan hatterman aka hairy hat man s debut single and what a debut it is! the original track >miyagis magic< (named after mr miyagi from the karate kid films) is a flat 4/4 journey into the land of big moog synth riffs that light up this tune. j alexanders remix strips some of the moog layers away and turns in a more minimal builder added a shuffling beat and hypnotic bass-line. a future detroit techno classic comes our way on the a side with the berlin duo that is tagträumer together with the co-production help of ronald christoph, big analogue synths take on the original tune while the pace is somewhat quicker than the other two mixes, turning miyagis magic into a peak-time techno floor filler!

third release for the third eye project of masomenos, with 3 tracks by themselves, including a great featuring by curro savoy on ningessera, a vocal pumping & deep house track. you ve probably heard curro savoy before, as he is the amous whistler from all ennio morricone soundtracks for sergio leone movies! he brings here an amazing melancholic vibes with his whistle & guitar… percute his a funkier track, but still quite trippy. as for sambatic, we get more into percussive groove with some great vocals too, thats sound like in ningessera to be some unknown universal language
